Right-wing Evangelical Christian James Dobson has come under fire recently after penning an alarming opinion piece on recent bathroom etiquette rulings. World Net Daily posted a copy of the article on Monday, in which the 80-year-old psychologist, evangelical Christian author and founder of Family Talk decided to share a few of his opinions.
In the article, Dobson refers to President Obama as a “tyrant” for allowing transgender folks to use whichever bathroom aligns with their gender identity.
‘Let’s talk more about Barack Obama, who is a tyrant in many ways. How dare he assault centuries of modesty and moral beliefs!’
‘Obama, acting like a king, is wielding dictatorial powers never envisioned in the law. He is determined to change the way males and females relate to one another, and worse, how children perceive themselves. If you are a married man with any gumption, surely you will defend your wife’s privacy and security in restroom facilities. Would you remain passive after knowing that a strange-looking man, dressed like a woman, has been peering over toilet cubicles to watch your wife in a private moment?’
Dobson’s comments suggest he’s encouraging husbands to act violently in defense of their wives and children. He even went on to question today’s “manhood,” alluding to the idea that it has somehow disappeared, as if male domination was somehow ever a good thing.
‘If you are a dad, I pray you will protect your little girls from men who walk in unannounced, unzip their pants and urinate in front of them. If this had happened 100 years ago, someone might have been shot. Where is today’s manhood? God help us!’
God help us is right.
‘How the world has changed! Who would have believed a day would come during my lifetime when boys could meander into the private sanctuary of girls’ toilets,’ Donson continued.
Apparently toilets are now sanctuaries. Holding an inanimate object in such high regard, nonetheless one that disposes of human waste, is likely cause for more worry than those who, regardless of gender, wish to use them in peace.
‘Have we gone absolutely mad? What ever happened to modesty, safety, and Christian mores?’ he questioned.
Dobson, who as previously mentioned is 80-years-old, went on to detail his experience as a third grade student who accidentally walked into the girls’ bathroom, mistaking it for his classroom.
‘I was mortified beyond belief. I sneaked back into class and looked at the floor, wondering who might have witnessed my unthinkable crime. That was decades ago, but I haven’t forgotten my humiliation. The cardinal rule is that boys and girls never entered each other’s private facilities. Never!’
Clearly, Dobson thinks things in 2016 should be exactly the same as they were back in the early 1940s. And people wonder why evangelical right-wing stereotypes are so pervasive.
Finishing the article off with a dramatic call-to-action, Dobson said:
‘We must fight to protect our homes and families from politically correct politicians who would create new entitlements that take away our liberties. There is no time to lose. Our children hang in the balance.’
