Dr. Keith Ablow, a psychiatrist and Fox News contributor, claimed today that Donald Trump showed “an incredible degree of psychological strength” when he bragged about his penis size on national television.
Ablow was referring to Donald Trump’s feud earlier this year with former Republican candidate Marco Rubio. Rubio made a joke about Trump’s small hands, saying that they were an indicator that something else of Trump’s was probably small. Trump responded to Rubio’s joke during one of the GOP debates, guaranteeing the audience that “there’s no problem” with the size of his penis.
Ablow brought up Trump’s defense of his genitals on Wednesday morning’s episode of Fox & Friends. The subject of the discussion was the fact that a part of Hillary Clinton’s debate prep includes a complete psychological study of Donald Trump.
When asked about whether the investigation would “work with Trump,” Ablow responded by first admitting that every candidate should probably look into the psychology of their opponent. However, he followed up this statement by saying that the Clinton campaign shouldn’t expect much from their study because “with Donald Trump … what you see is what you get.”
Ablow told co-hosts Tucker Carlson, Brian Kilmeade, and Ainsley Earhart, “When the ‘small hands’ issue was raised during the debate — that supposedly got the Clinton campaign very excited, they thought ‘Man, he’s off his game’ — he wasn’t off his game at all.”
The doctor then went on to applaud Trump’s psychological strength and ability to address personal issues in front of the entire country.
‘To be able to address such an intensely personal issue and say, “Listen, there’s no problem in that department,” to me, that showed an incredible degree of psychological strength.’
It’s surprising to hear a medical professional praising Trump’s mental health at a time when so many are questioning it. Suggestions that Trump suffers from narcissistic personality disorder have been floating around recently, with a Democratic representative actually creating a petition to have Trump undergo a psychological evaluation.
Despite critics’ claims that Trump may suffer from a psychological disorder, Ablow heaped praise upon the GOP nominee, adding that Freud would have “applauded” Trump’s defense of his penis size.
The doctor did concede that Donald Trump “may make errors in saying what he thinks” and said that he “could scale back” on “saying things that are gritty” and “attacking with some unkind words.” However, he followed up this concession by praising the fact that Trump’s “demons are on his sleeve,” and told the Fox co-hosts that, with Trump, “there’s not a lot of psychoanalysis that hasn’t been presented already.”
