Rob Reiner Responds To Trump’s Mexico Visit — And It’s PERFECT (TWEET)

Thank you, Rob Reiner.

You see, Reiner, who has been a part of such American classics of the screen as 1989’s When Harry Met Sally and the 1970’s All in the Family, issued an epic smack down on Wednesday, having found Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump visiting with the Mexican president, Enrique Pena Nieto.

Nobody in the United States likes Donald Trump. Nobody in Mexico likes Donald Trump.

Sure, Trump has a small group of backers in the United States, but there’s always a margin of error.

Anyway, in the face of the collective groan that was heard loud and clear across the whole North American continent at the prospect of the eccentric — to put it nicely — businessman-turned-presidential-candidate actually making a cross border trip to Mexico, Reiner offered up a bit of incredibly on-point comic relief.

Reiner hearkened back to the early days of Trump’s campaign, when the businessman proclaimed that “clearly Mexico is not sending us their best … rather, they are sending us criminals, rapists, and drug dealers.”

The film industry star took Trump’s months-old comments and turned them right around to point at the man who is now the Republican presidential nominee, saying:

‘Clearly we’re not sending our best to Mexico. We’re sending liars. We’re sending narcissists. We’re sending sociopaths.’

Reiner’s tweet is below.

Bravo, Reiner, bravo.

The longtime director and actor wasn’t the only one to take to Twitter to roast Trump’s visit to Mexico. Some of the other social media responses came in under the hashtag, “#TrumpMexicoTripSayings.”

A few of the best ones are below.

A Twitter user identified as Matthew Chapman referenced when the presidential candidate posted a picture to Instagram of himself eating a taco bowl in “celebration” of Cinco de Mayo and was immediately ridiculed for his shallow attempt at wooing some of the voters he had already turned away with his bigotry towards Mexicans.

This isn’t the first time that Reiner has spoken out against Trump, either. He appeared on MSNBC’s popular program Morning Joe back in May to discuss the presidential candidate.

In that appearance, in response to a jokingly posed question from host Joe Scarborough about whether or not Reiner supported Trump, the director responded, saying:

‘I’m one of the very few guys, the few Democrats… I’m actually, I burned my Democratic card, I’m now going to be a Trump — no, what are you crazy? The guy’s a lunatic!’
