Anonymously leaked video from 2004 features then businessman and current Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump casually drop the word “c*nt” while speaking at a public dinner.
Trump was speaking at the end of an evening at the Friars Club dedicated to roasting him, one which saw, as usual for such evenings, Trump field biting humor directed at himself and the members of his family and inner circle.
The New York Times ran a story at the time on the evening’s events.
And, in unsurprising Trumpian fashion, the real estate mogul marked his own remarks concluding the evening by casually dropping the misogynistic slur “c*nt” as a part of a long diatribe about why, basically, women are so stupid in Trump’s view.
More specifically, the businessman was rambling on about how, according to his estimation, the women in attendance that evening did not understand what was going on as speaker after speaker roasted Trump and his family.
Trump began, for example, by saying, “I have to start by apologizing to Melania,” who was at that time his fiancee, “She had no idea, and I didn’t want to tell her. I’ve been here before, many times, and I’ve watched some honorees walk out crying.”
Trump then proceeds in the clip to run down a list of targets for his convoluted and sickening jabs, beginning, “I watched Hugh Hefner a few years ago; he was shaken… he didn’t know what happened.. and the nine women in front of him, all blondes, they didn’t know what happened but they didn’t understand, so it didn’t matter.”
He ended his rant by addressing Katie Couric who, according to Trump, was as hopelessly lost as Melania, saying of her, “The first word she heard was the word ‘c*nt,’” before adding that Couric than asked if that’s how the rest of the evening would go.
The clip was posted to YouTube by an anonymous account which has posted no other videos but the one featured here and ones closely related.
On the subject of the word “c*nt” itself, Dr. Richard Stephens from Keele University told The Tab earlier this fall, “In my opinion ‘cunt’ is considered very offensive because of its strong misogynistic overtone.”
“Strong misogynistic overtone”- such an apt descriptor of the contribution of Donald Trump to the 2016 presidential race.
