Former President Of Mexico Responds To Trump’s Twitter Allegations About Border Wall

Prepare yourself for the oncoming Twitter warfare that is sure to be waged between former Mexican President Vicente Fox and President-elect Donald Trump. Fox took to Twitter Thursday night to voice his view on one of Trump’s most popular campaign promises – the Great Wall of Mexico. He tweeted:

‘Trump may ask whoever he wants, but still neither myself nor Mexico are going to pay for his racist monument. Another promise he can’t keep.’

This is not the first time Fox has expressed these views. Last February, he told Fusion in an interview that Mexico would not be paying for “that f—— wall.” Instead, he said Trump had the money, and he should pay for it. Later in August, he issued harsh words for current Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto ripping him for Trump’s visit to Mexico. He told CNN,

‘I don’t understand what’s going on here, and I really apologize for our president taking this step forward. I really expect from him, as all 130 million Mexicans, all of our great brother Mexicans in the United States, an explanation from both, from President Peña and Trump himself.’

Peña has, of course, voiced the same sentiments as Fox, that Mexico will not pay or reimburse for the wall.

Though Trump did not name Fox explicitly, he did send out a tweet about the wall this morning:

‘The dishonest media does not report that any money spent on building the Great Wall (for sake of speed), will be paid back by Mexico later!’

The Great Wall… Wow.

The tweet comes after CNN revealed Thursday that Trump’s transition team has notified Congress that Trump now aims to build the wall through the appropriations process, which would build his Great Wall using American tax-dollars. With Mexico giving Trump a bucketful of nopes on reimbursement, this would be one of the hugest campaign promises that Trump would be breaking to his American supporters.
