Host Jimmy Fallon began the 74th Golden Globes on Sunday with one of the best opening monologues we’ve seen to date.
Celebrities such as Nicole Kidman, Ryan Reynolds, Tina Fey and Justin Timberlake joined the iconic Tonight Show host on stage to start the show off with a few laughs.
Evidently, Fallon had large shoes to fill after last year’s emcee, Ricky Gervais, shot out some of the hardest hitting zingers we’ve heard in a long time. This year, however, those zingers were largely reserved for a very special someone: President-elect Donald Trump.
Mocking Trump’s presidential victory, Fallon joked that the Golden Globes remained “one of the few places left where America still honors the popular vote.”
The Tonight Show host even went on to compare the Trump administration to the TV show Game of Thrones, saying:
‘People are wondering what it would have been like if King Joffrey had lived… Well, in 12 days, we’re gonna find out.’
