Kellyanne Conway twisted Meryl Streep’s comment about Donald Trump and it was pathetic.
The Trump talker said that the famous actor’s speech disappointed her, then she accused Streep and all of Hollywood of “self-pity,” on Fox News’ Fox & Friends. This came after the Golden Globes gave the actor a lifetime achievement award.
Streep said that Trump bullies people and even made fun of a reporter with a disability, one that affects his ability to control his hand movements. The near-president’s mimicking was such a cheap shot. Streep’s Golden Globes take-down turned the raucous room to sheer silence. She said that the president-elect’s act was “one performance this year that stunned me.”
Conway accused Streep of being a poor loser, one of this administration’s key phrases:
‘She sounds like 2014. The election is over. She lost. Everybody in that audience, with very few exceptions, was of a single, myopic mind as to how they wanted the election to go and how they expected the election to go. They lost, and I really wish she would have stood up last night and said “look, I didn’t like the election results, but he’s our president and we’re going to support him.”‘
Another Republican key strategy is taking a criticism about Trump, turning it around, and shooting it right back. Conway said Streep was “inciting people’s worst instincts.” Sound familiar? Then the Trump mouthpiece said the actor should have been searching for common ground. Conway said:
‘But this is Hollywood. I think where there is self-pity, a lot more self-awareness would do them some charm. Talking about how vilified poor Hollywood is, in their gazillion dollar gowns. Can I borrow a couple of those for the inaugural, please?’
Trump took to his Twitter machine and called Streep “one of the most overrated actresses in Hollywood” and a “Hillary flunky who lost big.” He also said he didn’t make fun of the reporter, even though the video is proof positive.
