According to reports, both President-elect Trump and President Obama were briefed on a two-page dossier that claims Russia allegedly has “compromising personal and financial information” about the president-elect.
Following the news of the dossier being leaked to the media, Trump took to Twitter to deny the allegations, tweeting:
‘Russia has never tried to use leverage over me. I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH RUSSIA – NO DEALS, NO LOANS, NO NOTHING!’

Of course, verifying his claims proves to be rather difficult, given the fact that he has yet to release his tax returns. However, there remains proof that he may indeed have ties to Russia.
Back in 2008, Donald Trump Jr. reportedly told a real estate conference that “Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets” and that they “see a lot of money pouring in from Russia.”
Obviously, Donald Trump Jr.’s comments are in stark opposition to the claims made by his father.
In 2013, Trump’s Miss Universe pageant took place in Moscow and was reportedly financed by a Russian billionaire, Ara Agalarov. According to The Washington Post, Agalarov and Trump agreed to develop a new building in Moscow, following the pageant.
Trump also gave an interview to MSNBC back in 2013, which resurfaced on Wednesday following his claims that he has no ties with Russia.
‘I do have a relationship. I can tell you that he’s very interested in what we’re doing here today, he’s probably very interested in what you and I are saying today and I’m sure he’s going to be seeing it in some form. But I do have a relationship with him.’
Trump went on to praise Putin for his leadership skills, saying “he’s done an amazing job,” comparing him to the likes of President Obama and President Bush:
‘He’s done an amazing job… Now in all fairness to Obama, I think that he’s done the same thing with President Bush. I think that Putin has done an amazing job of showing certain leadership that our people have not been able to match.’
