Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky might have royally pissed off Donald Trump. Despite Trump’s insistence that Mexico will be footing the cost for the southern border wall, McConnell blatantly crushed the actuality of it happening.
When asked on Live TV, by Politico’s Jake Sherman and Anna Palmer, if he believed Trump could persuade Mexico to pay for the wall McConnell, with no hesitation at all, answered: ‘Uh, no!’
Throughout his entire presidential campaign Trump has vouched that the United States would not be responsible for the building of the wall. In January with claims that Mexico will be repaying the U.S., he tweeted:
‘The dishonest media does not report that any money spent on building the Great Wall (for sake of speed), will be paid back by Mexico later!’

Top GOP lawmakers have doubted trump’s foolish declarations for some time.
When asked about the placement of a physical wall, McConnell expressed that he did not think it was the best option for certain places:
‘I’m in favor of border security. There are probably some places along the border where that is probably not the best way to secure the border.’
McConnell’s concerns regarding the most appropriate security for the border were reiterated by border-state lawmakers, who disputed that a variance of coordinated tactics were needed to be successful in securing the wall. They suggested the combination of border patrol officials, fencing, and up to date technology would work exceptionally.
In agreement with Trump, McConnell mentioned that he felt John Kelly, the Homeland Security Secretary, was a satisfying decision and suggested the Trump would follow the advice given to him by Kelly.
While speaking to a joint session of Congress Trump vowed that his administration would begin working on the wall promptly:
‘We will soon begin the construction of a great, great wall along our southern border.’
Near the end of February the Department of Homeland Security released their plan to start brainstorming suggestions towards the beginning of March for the layout and framing of multiple mock-up wall designs along the border of Mexico and the United States.
