Since the beginning of the 2016 presidential campaign, Donald Trump has promised to do so many different things to “Make America Great Again,” but has been unable to follow through with his promises. Much like the American Health Care Act (ACHA) that was a major flop, he continually produces low quality policy which are built on foundations of discrimination.
Trump has said again and again that Mexico would be held responsible for the cost of Trump’s proposed border wall, even if it meant extorting them for it. Despite numerous issues regarding the wall being raised, there has been a dismal lack of information regarding the intended construction. For instance, there has never been any mention of the specific location of the wall, with the Trump administration instead opting to provide bleak and vague big picture statements. It has never been explained to the people either, that the goal was for the wall was for it to be built on land seized from Mexico.
According to a report made by E&E News, this week during an event held by the Public Lands Council, Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke spoke about the details of the plan and the proposed strategy to building the border wall. Zinke brought up the fact that Trump’s administration was reluctant to construct the wall on American soil due to the location of the Rio Grande river. If the wall were to be constructed on American soil the river would become completely inaccessible.
Zinke explained to reporters:
‘The border is complicated, as far as building a physical wall. The Rio Grande, what side of the river are you going to put the wall? We’re not going to put it on our side and cede the river to Mexico. And we’re probably not going to put it in the middle of the river.’
Even though Zinke didn’t directly state that the plan is to build the wall on Mexican land, it was implied by him saying it definitely would not be built on the United States side of the border and mentioning that it wasn’t likely to be built-in the middle of the river.
It’s complete and utter foolishness to build the wall in the first place but to expect Mexico, a country who doesn’t even want the wall, to provide the funds for materials and for laborers in order to construct the wall is just pure absurdity. Besides Trump’s foolishness of thinking we need a wall to begin with, now his administration is planning to place the wall on Mexico’s land, most likely without them condoning said plan, which would then cede them from the Rio Grande river. Why would the President and his administration think that it is okay to cede Mexico from the river when that is exactly what they are trying to prevent from happening to the U.S.?
At some point Trump is going to have to grow out of his toddler phase and stop thinking that everything is his and that he can do whatever he pleases, or he will get no where.
There has got to be another way to improve the issues surrounding immigration and taking in refugees, besides the obvious solution of getting Trump out of the White House.
