On Thursday morning, Donald Trump Jr. hopped on Twitter and proved once again his inability to think before he tweets. Who knows where he gets it from?
Trump Jr. retweeted a story from The Daily Caller about LGBT students at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh being opposed to a Chik-Fil-A restaurant being brought to their college campus. Along with the story, he included the following caption:
‘Luckily these students wont likely have to tackle issues more stressful than a yummy chicken sandwich in their lives… Oh Wait #triggered’

First, the irony in Donald Trump Jr., the son of a billionaire, suggesting that the students at Duquesne University are acting entitled is laughable. Second, he appears not to have read any further than The Daily Caller article’s title. The actual article includes explanations from students about why they do not want a Chik-Fil-A at their school.
Student Senator Niko Martini is quoted in the article saying that much of the resistance to the addition of a Chik-Fil-A has to do with the fact that the restaurant’s president has openly donated to organizations that oppose marriage equality. Martini said specifically:
‘Chick-fil-A has a questionable history on civil rights and human rights. I think it’s imperative [that] the university chooses to do business with organizations that coincide with the [university’s] mission and expectations they give students regarding diversity and inclusion.’
Another student, Rachel Coury, who is the president of the school’s Gay-Straight Alliance, is also quoted commenting on the situation:
‘I’ve tried very hard within the last semester and a half to promote this safe environment for the LGBTQ community. So I fear that with the Chick-fil-A being in Options [an on-campus food fair] that maybe people will feel that safe place is at risk.’
Trump Jr. may not have tried to understand the position of the students discussed in article, or perhaps he understood them and just doesn’t care. Either way, though, his tweet about the issue was not very well-received.
A number of people commented and let the younger Donald know exactly what they think of him. Some of the best responses can be seen below.

Your complete obliviousness to oppression and the plight of others is so baffling. You are so far removed and privileged beyond belief.

Shorter tweet: "I'm a dick!" Fixed it for you.

if a company has paid money to keep my marriage from being legally recognized I can't see how I'd ever feel comfortable around them.

The idea that the President's son is tweeting insults to a marginalized group of American citizens is wrong on so many levels. Sad.
