Utah’s Republican U.S. Representative Jason Chaffetz may resign from Congress as soon as Friday, according to internet journalist Claude Taylor.
He wrote the following on Twitter this Thursday afternoon:
‘A Utah source now confirming that Chaffetz resignation expected as early as tomorrow.’

This news comes after the details about Chaffetz’s steady retreat from the House have been slowly but surely leaking to the public.
On Wednesday, he announced that he wouldn’t be seeking re-election, citing family matters.
In a statement posted to his Facebook page, Chaffetz, who currently serves as Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said:
‘I have long advocated public service should be for a limited time and not a lifetime or full career. Many of you have heard me advocate, “Get in, serve, and get out.” After more than 1,500 nights away from my home, it is time.’
On Thursday, the day following that Facebook post, Chaffetz revealed that he might not even finish his term.

And now, this — an announcement that Chaffetz, who, as Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, is one of the most powerful Republicans in Congress, might resign from Congress as soon as tomorrow.
Chaffetz has long been suspected of turning a blind eye to serious issues — including Trump’s ties to Russia — choosing to instead focus his time on such issues as the non-scandal of the Hillary Clinton email controversy.
Louise Mensch, who is a noted online journalist in the same vein as Claude Taylor, says that Russia has compromising material on Chaffetz, which underlies his decision to all of a sudden jump ship.

An impending scandal on Chaffetz’s part really isn’t that far fetched of an idea. Why else would he all of a sudden decide that it’s time to leave Congress?
