On Wednesday, Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) made the startling announcement that he did not intend to run for reelection in 2018.
As the current head of the House Oversight Committee, the rising GOP star made a name for himself by digging into a whole lot of fake and debunked controversies, grilling Hillary Clinton on matters like Benghazi and her use of a private email server during her tenure as Secretary of State under President Obama. Republican voters absolutely adore him for it.
On Thursday, Chaffetz made yet another shocking announcement when he told KSL News Radio in Utah that he may not even finish his current term.

Amidst shock and speculation around insider reports that Chaffetz is refusing to investigate the alleged collusion between Trump’s campaign and transition teams with Russia to influence and win the 2016 presidential election because Russian operatives have threatened to expose compromising information about the congressman, Chaffetz is now considering just leaving without finishing the term.
Chaffetz did not elaborate as to why this might be so, and the reasoning for Chaffetz’s statement is as yet unknown. One thing that is clear, however, is that something very shady is happening behind the scenes.
