Amidst shouts of “Sean! Sean?” the White House press secretary, Sean Spicer, left Tuesday’s White House press briefing without taking questions.
In fact, Spicer made no statement, presented no new information, and barely even spoke to the White House press pool. He simply introduced Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly and then stepped aside. After Kelly made statements about the border wall at the United States/Mexico border, Director of the Office of Management and Budget Mick Mulvaney made more statements about the border wall and its construction, announcing that it had already begun, and the press conference abruptly ended.
One reporter yelled out, “What about the Putin call?” but no one answered.
After Monday’s disastrous attempt by Spicer to defend Trump’s insane rants for the day, rants that left the country stunned, perhaps the White House has reconsidered Spicer as the best defense for Trump’s obvious misinformation and deceit.
It’s clearly a tough job.
