On Thursday, a 26-year-old Navy veteran drove onto a crowded sidewalk in Times Square and ran down 23 pedestrians, including an 18-year-old young woman from Michigan. While people in the area watched the accident and the aftermath in horror, President Trump’s ex-wife, Marla Maples, showed up to take selfies with the traumatized crowd.
According to the New York Daily News, Maples was in Manhattan with a friend when she heard about the accident and headed to the scene to see the damage. While she was en route, she said in a Snapchat video that she was “going to Times Square to see if there is anything I can do”
Once she arrived, Maples got to work using all her social media accounts to talk about the situation. She shared a photo of the scene on Instagram, which can be seen below.
She also told her Twitter followers to check her Instagram story for more footage.

Included on her Instagram story were several videos of the aftermath of the crash, which the New York Post put together and shared in their coverage of the story.
As if it weren’t bad enough that Maples was using the tragic crash as an opportunity to promote her social media accounts, she also took selfies with some of the onlookers surrounding the site of the accident.
Maples said that she wanted to see if she could help in some way, but it seems that her main goal in heading to the crash was self promotion. After all, what was she really going to do to assist the injured?
Plenty of people have criticized her for her behavior, and rightfully so. An 18-year-old young woman is dead, and Maples has been busy telling people to check out her Instagram story.
Some of the negative responses to Maples’ tweet about the incident can be seen below.

@itsmarlamaples Are you doing a role play where you pretend to be a reporter? How exactly did you help while taking selfies?

@itsmarlamaples What the hell were you thinking???

They might not be married anymore, but Maples and President Trump clearly still have one thing in common: their love for social media. She might be even more shameless than he is, though.
