Trump Tweets About Meeting Macron After Hitting On His Wife & Twitter Explodes

In the midst of the scandal surrounding his eldest son and the meeting he had last summer with a Russian lawyer, President Trump has fled to France to meet with the country’s recently elected president, Emmanuel Macron.

Trump — or more likely an aide doing their best to make him seem just slightly presidential — shared a video on Twitter of the welcome he and the first lady received when they arrived in Paris. In the caption for the video, he thanked Macron for the “beautiful welcome ceremony.”

‘President @EmmanuelMacron,

‘Thank you for the beautiful welcome ceremony at Les Invalides today!’

Trump might be trying to forget about the scandal back home, but the folks commenting on his most recent tweet are making that a bit difficult.

A few other commenters couldn’t help but drag Trump for the awkward and aggressive way he greeted France’s first lady, Brigitte Macron.

A couple of others also called for the president to stay in France.

U.S. residents might want Trump to remain abroad, but — aside from the greeting he received from Macron and the first lady — he doesn’t seem particularly welcome there, either.

According to The Guardian, anti-Trump protesters have gathered at Place de la République, which has been dubbed a “No Trump Zone.” Organizers have promised to stand up to Trump’s “anti-migrant positions, sexism, Islamophobia, and racism.”
