One of the first signs that Donald Trump’s stay in the White House wasn’t going to be in line with that of past people who have held his position, was his almost immediate insistence upon traveling to his privately owned Mar a Lago golf resort. Since his first trip to the Florida club months ago, Trump has spent nearly a fourth of his time, golfing outside of the D.C. area. It’s almost as if Trump hates the White House.
As a matter of fact, it didn’t take long for Trump to brand one of his own properties as the “Winter White House.” Whether that silly nickname was Trump’s attempt to give his resort the same rich history as the White House, or his way of justifying the amount of time he spends there, Trump sent a pretty strong message when he openly likened the resort to the place that has been set aside for the family of the person who holds the highest office in the land.
Now it seems there may be some evidence to support the assertion that Trump hates the White House as much as people have joked his wife does. Golf.com reports that during one of his famous pompous rants, Trump told members of his Bedminster, NJ golf club:
‘That White House is a real dump.’
Once again proving that absolutely nothing about the office he holds and the traditions of American government are sacred or worthy of respect to Trump, his willingness to so openly belittle a space that many people would love to call home, is despicable. Trump didn’t stop with the comment above, though. He also frankly admitted that everyday Americans aren’t his preferred people; his wealthy club members are the only folks to whom he can relate. Adding:
‘This is my real group. You are the special people. I see all of you. I recognize, like, 100% of you, just about.’
The solution to Trump’s problem is quite clear. If he doesn’t like the White House, he should just pack his bags and leave. There are millions of people, worldwide, who wouldn’t be the least bit upset.
