Donald Trump is a joke. His lack of professionalism, unstable/unpredictable personality, and even his hair continue to be the source of a wide variety of comedic material. As funny as some of the comics, sketches, and parodies of Trump and his administration have been, they’re also sad. What was once considered “the greatest nation on Earth has been reduced to the laughingstock of the world.
Things have gotten so bad with the Trump administration that it seems that a week doesn’t go by that some form of the press doesn’t mock the motley Trump crew in some way. The New York Post portrayed the group as a knock-off Survivor cast. Rolling Stone asked why Justin Trudeau can’t be the President of the United States. Now, Newsweek has outed Trump as a sloppy, lazy, Cheeto eating, complaining, surly old slob:
— Alexander Nazaryan (@alexnazaryan) August 2, 2017
Although no story is needed to accompany the cover, Newsweek’s Alexander Nazaryan beautifully explains why he went with the cover and, but his headline says it all:
‘TRUMP, AMERICA’S BOY KING: GOLF AND TELEVISION WON’T MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN’
Nazaryan makes major comparisons between President Obama and Donald Trump, outlining the class and poise with which Obama approached leadership, versus the erratic and illogical display Trump prides himself in. As for the specific reasons why Trump is unable to “Make America Great Again,” well, Nazaryan argues that Trump’s constant golfing, tweeting, and anti-CNN rhetoric keep him from being able to do any real work.
Nazaryan also suggests that Trump is simply overwhelmed. To support that claim, he reminds about Trump’s own words back in April:
‘I loved my previous life. I had so many things going. This is more work than in my previous life. I thought it would be easier.’
In summation, Trump has never had to fight or otherwise advocate for anyone but himself, and even that hasn’t been hard for him given his wealth. Awaking every day to trials of his own creation and having to battle them, along with the media backlash they bring, are a full-time job in and of themselves. Simply put, Donald Trump is so busy putting out fires he started, he doesn’t have time to do anything else.
