The Senate Judiciary Committee invited Donald Trump Jr. to a July hearing to testify in public regarding the Russian investigation. The judiciary committee is currently investigating his attendance at a 2016 meeting where he was promised Russian dirt on the Clinton campaign.
‘President Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., has agreed to sit down for a transcribed interview with the Senate judiciary committee.’
Trump Jr. agreed on a date to be interviewed by the committee in private instead of the public appearance they had originally requested. Jr., in his latest weasel deal, was able to cut a deal to avoid that session, but it’s still on the table that he could eventually testify publicly. On Tuesday night, the senators stated:
‘This meeting will be conducted under the same terms as previously announced.’
Senators Grassley and Feinstein did not give the exact date that Trump Jr. intends to appear before the committee. However, they said it could be as soon as September. CNN reports:
‘After Trump Jr. disclosed some of his emails about the meeting, he told Fox News host Sean Hannity nothing came out of it, saying the brief session was of little value and focused primarily on the issue of Russian adoptions. He said that he would be willing to testify before Congress on the meeting, which he considered to be standard campaign protocol to look for opposition research.’
Senator Chuck Grassley shared on Twitter about an odd phone call he received from President Trump on Tuesday.
Trump’s phone call is highly suspect because it comes the day after CNN’s announcement about Trump Jr’s meeting with the Senate Judiciary Committee. Trump is more likely consumed with Hurricane Harvey right now and making tax reform announcements in Missouri.
Ethanol is not “good” either. It is worse for the environment than gasoline, and indirectly leads to higher food prices worldwide. Showing support for ethanol is a way to pander to Iowa voters and is Trump’s way of getting Grassley on his side so he will protect his son and himself.
Here were some of the tweets fired back at Senator Grassley:
