It’s always interesting when members of the Trump team take to social media to act as though everything is fine and dandy when it most certainly is not.
Monday is the 16th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attack, which claimed the lives of thousands upon thousands of Americans right here on U.S. soil.
The president and first lady attended a remembrance ceremony at the Pentagon for those killed in the attack, at which Donald Trump went full nationalist yet again and told those assembled that “our values will endure.”
Melania Trump posted an image of her and her husband at the Pentagon, captioning it by writing, quite simply, “Remembering September 11, 2001.”
Check it out below.
There are multiple issues here. For one, Melania unsurprisingly does not mention that her husband’s plans to slash public health programs could affect those made ill in the aftermath of the attack.
Secondly, Melania unsurprisingly does not mention in her post that her husband has been reported to have claimed damage payments offered by the city in the aftermath of the attacks when, in fact, none of his properties were actually affected by the attacks.
She and her husband, it seems, have quite selective memories.
Trump has done nothing to respect the memory of those who lost their lives in the 9/11 terror attacks, instead sticking by his insistence upon trying to provoke radical Islamists into attacking the United States. ISIS operatives were literally reported to have been overjoyed by the president’s proposal of a Muslim-targeting travel ban, calling it the “blessed ban.” After all, thanks to the ban, they would have a good deal more material for their anti-American recruitment propaganda.
Concurrent to this issue, the president has long peddled the infamous fake news story that “thousands of Muslims” in the U.S. celebrated the 9/11 terror attacks.
Besides all of this, the Trump team’s seeming addiction to social media makes it seem as though everything is nothing but a spectacle to them. They enjoy attention, and they couldn’t possibly be stupid enough to think that their relentless social media usage will earn them anything but scorn from those who haven’t already drank the orange flavored Kool-Aid.
