In what has become one of the biggest pissing contests in national headlines, the Golden State Warriors have sent out an official press release stating that they will see President Donald Trump’s bluff and are raising the ante.
The news release was posted on their Twitter feed, where Trump will be most likely to see it, since he isn’t known for his vast choice of reading materials. Basically, if it isn’t on Twitter, Fox News, or CNN, it never happened in Trump’s mind.
The responses are varied, from very supportive of the Warrior’s choice to suggestions for the team to visit with former president Barack Obama instead.
Steph Curry has already been to Washington DC and has spent some time with Obama. The opportunity to visit Trump, specifically, is the sticking point.
An earlier statement from Steph Curry, one of the Warrior’s players, made the case very plain and simple for why he was not interested in visiting Trump at the White House:
‘That we don’t stand for basically what our President has – the things that he’s said and the things that he hasn’t said in the right times, that we won’t stand for it. And by acting and not going, hopefully that will inspire some change when it comes to what we tolerate in this country and what is accepted and what we turn a blind eye to. It’s not just the act of not going there. There are things you have to do on the back end to actually push that message into motion.’
Trump is obviously rather bothered by the whole thing, because he has been tweet-storming all day about his butt hurt over this and a multitude of other insane topics. His first tweet about “Stephen Curry” from 5:45 a.m. EDT was:
‘Going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team.Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore invitation is withdrawn!’
After he “withdrew” the invitation to the NBA championship team, the chatter shifted to the ongoing wars he has been brewing with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un about nuclear missiles and the NFL regarding player kneeling during the national anthem.
Great honor or not, the Golden State Warriors will not be visiting the White house on this trip to stroke the ego of the great orange one. They will instead use their time more productively and undoubtedly leave a greater impact in their wake.
