The sociopath-in-chief is at it again. After Army Sgt. La David Johnson died with three others in Tongo Tongo, Niger, Trump’s call to the widow lacked empathy. When Rep. Wilson bravely stood up and spoke out about Trump’s callous behavior, Trump called her a liar.
Now, both the mother of Sgt. La David Johnson and his grieving widow have spoken out in support of Rep. Wilson’s description of the events. This morning, Donald Trump called the widow a liar on his Twitter account. Minutes later, his son retweeted a Fox News video blaming the media and claiming Trump is compassionate. It’s all just a grand media conspiracy to turn people against him, apparently.
Here’s a segment from the interview with Myeshia Johnson, the widow, which Trump took issue with. From ABC:
‘”I heard him stumbling on trying to remember my husband’s name, and that’s what hurt me the most because if my husband is out here fighting for our country and he risked his life for our country why can’t you remember his name,” said Johnson, who had known her husband since she was 6 years old.
“That’s what made me upset and cry even more because my husband was an awesome soldier.”‘
After the interview was released, Trump tweeted, “I had a very respectful conversation with the widow of Sgt. La David Johnson, and spoke his name from beginning, without hesitation!” Trump Jr. posted the following retweet of a 40-second Fox News video delusionally defending Trump:
No, of course not, but logic & common sense no longer apply. Media will do and say anything to turn people away from Trump. It’s not working https://t.co/P3NUmPBSha

It’s not the media or a lack of “logic & common sense” that says Trump lacks compassion. It’s his Twitter feed. It’s the words he chooses to use. It’s the fact he mocked a disabled reporter, is overtly racist, and proudly bragged about sexual assault. Logic, common sense, and familiarity with the signs of sociopathy and narcissism are what tells us Trump has no compassion.
His tweet immediately started a firestorm, with many expressing support for both points of view:
Confusingly, Trump supporters seem to be okay with blaming the media even in the face of Myeshia Johnson’s statement. Apparently, her story doesn’t count. She has no reason to lie given the attention she will get for speaking out. She’ll just face harassment during a state of grief. It would be easier to leave Trump alone.
Trump, on the other hand, has every reason to lie. After he mocked John McCain and feuded with the Khans, how can anyone believe President Draft Deferments actually has compassion for service?
