Ivanka Brags About Being Born Rich On Fox News Like The Out-Of-Touch Socialite She Is

-

The Republican tax plan currently being discussed in Congress has massive benefits for the rich and very little benefit for anyone else. As it is currently written, it will balloon the deficit and cut social services to give the biggest tax cut possible to the super wealthy. Donald Trump and his heirs stand to profit hugely, especially if the estate tax is successfully repealed.

Ivanka Trump thus stands to benefit to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars if the plan passes. That’s her motivation in lobbying for tax “reform.” It’s a massive gift to her and others in the same wealth class.

In an appearance on Fox & Friends, Ivanka showed exactly how out of her depth she is when it comes to class relations and taxes – she has no clue what she’s talking about.

Recently, Ivanka’s six-year-old daughter sang a Chinese song, which Trump played for Chinese President Xi Jinping. The hosts asked her how her child knows Mandarin. The answer? She’s super rich and has a nanny who teaches it to her. That was the topic at hand when Ivanka said the following ridiculous statement:

‘That’s what we’re trying to do with tax reform: Enable more working parents to be able to get the support that they need to be able to thrive as a family.’

Here’s the video:

Ivanka thinks that a tax plan with no benefit to the middle or working class is going to free up parents to get live-in foreign language tutors? Is she delusional our just completely out-of-touch?

For reference, the average cost of a nanny in the United States is over $650 a week. That’s $2,600 a month, or over $30,000 a year. The median personal income in the United States overall is $865 a week. The working class can’t afford nannies – nannies are the working class.

Tax reform isn’t going to help anybody get a nanny, or help anybody’s child learn Mandarin. Tax reform is going to get Ivanka a fat check when daddy dies, and immediate benefit through massive tax cuts for her and people like her. She’s not from Main Street. She’s never worked a day in her life. She’s an out-of-touch Park Avenue 1%-er who doesn’t understand the basic financial decisions made by everyday Americans.

The video of her daughter singing in Mandarin was incredibly friggin’ adorable, though, so here’s that:

If Ivanka cared about the middle class, or understood Americans, she would advocate for paid family leave, child tax credits not associated with a bill that is just a gift to the wealthy, and would advocate for union expansion and fair wages. Productivity over the last 40 years has gone up nearly by an order of magnitude, with corporations and the rich pocketing the gains while workers, the producers, have had their wages stagnate.

That dress cost $5,000.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the face of privilege. She’s not just privileged because of her birth, or her money, or the fact she doesn’t have to face the same problems the rest of us do. She’s privileged to the degree that she doesn’t even have to consider them.
