Donald Trump Jr. has been under heavy investigation for awhile now by Special Counsel Robert Mueller III, especially for being the person behind setting up the famous June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower with a supposed “Russian government attorney” under the guise that the meeting was about Russian adoption.
According to Newsweek:
‘Released emails showed that Trump Jr. agreed to the meeting with a “Russian government attorney” under the promise of receiving “high level and sensitive information” that would incriminate Clinton, as part of the Russian government’s efforts to support Trump. Trump Jr. has claimed that nothing came of the meeting.’
Mueller has swiftly been uncovering key information, including enough to indict former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, former senior White House Adviser George Papadopoulos and former adviser Richard Gates. He seems to be slowly but surely working his way up the chain to Trump Jr., and ultimately his father.
Now, on Monday, a set of messages were revealed that had been sent by the WikiLeaks private Twitter account to Donald Trump Jr.’s account. The Atlantic obtained the messages that had been turned over by Trump Jr.’s lawyers to congressional investigators. According to The Atlantic:
‘The messages show WikiLeaks, a radical transparency organization that the American intelligence community believes was chosen by the Russian government to disseminate the information it had hacked, actively soliciting Trump Jr.’s cooperation.’
On Monday evening, for whatever insane reason, Trump Jr. decided that it was a good idea to Tweet the private messages that were exchanged, apparently, just to ensure that everyone had seen them. Maybe in his odd line of thinking this will help him, but that is probably far from the truth.
Here is his tweet:
