BREAKING: Two More Women Accuse Al Franken Of Sexual Assault (DETAILS)

-

Recently, Democratic Senator Al Franken was accused of sexual assault by  Leeann Tweeden. Now Huffington Post has reported that two other women have accused Franken of sexual assault. The two women spoke on the condition of anonymity and said they were not familiar with each other’s stories. Both women described events during Franken’s first campaign for Senate. For his part, Franken has said he does not remember the events in question.

‘It’s difficult to respond to anonymous accusers, and I don’t remember those campaign events.’

In response to Tweeden’s accusations, Franken issued an apology.

One of the women compared her experience to those recounted by Lyndsay Menz who claimed Franken groped her in 2010.

‘My story is eerily similar to Lindsay Menz’s story. He grabbed my buttocks during a photo op.’

This woman says that Franken grabbed her butt during at the Women’s Political Caucus. She talked about her disappointment in Franken and mentioned that her mother was a longtime fan.

‘My mother loves Al Franken. She listened to Air America [on which Franken had a radio show] every day. I saw him and asked if we could take a photo together for my mother, and we stood next to each other … and down his hand went.’

The first woman also criticized the theory that some of the attacks on Franken are politically motivated. She insisted that they are not.

‘Only two people have come forward, and people are saying that this is a right-wing conspiracy. It’s not. I’m a liberal person. … I voted for him after this happened.’

The second anonymous women said that Franken’s behavior both disgusted and disappointed her.

‘My immediate reaction was disgust. But my secondary reaction was disappointment. I was excited to be there and to meet him. And so to have that happen really deflated me. It felt like: ‘Is this really the person who is going to be in a position of power to represent our community.’

Both women said they felt uncomfortable about speaking out, but were motivated to do so as part of the #MeToo campaign. The first woman posted her story on Facebook. A screenshot can be seen below via Huffington Post.

Franken himself has said that he will welcome an ethics investigation into his past conduct, in order  to get to the bottom of these allegations. As of right now, it should be noted that the only evidence against Franken are these accusations, though the investigation may bring more evidence.

As far as the political angle goes, these accusations should be thoroughly investigated, regardless of party affiliation. That being said, it is doubtless that some are using the accusations for political means, regardless of what the women involved in the claims want. Donald Trump, who has been accused of sexual assault numerous times, has  attacked Franken on Twitter, despite his defense Roy Moore who has been accused of sexually assaulting teenage girls.
