The fact that the president of the United States goes on Twitter to rant like a madman every chance he gets is not new. Trump has set a new precedent for the highest office in the nation though – a new and sad precedent that frequently involves taking his unhinged madness to social media.
On Tuesday night, Trump took to Twitter again, this time complaining incoherently about how we need to fund our government and military and then, somehow, blaming Democrats for trying to shut down the government. He tweeted:
There’s just one huge problem with this. Democrats have not been trying to shut down the government, but the president is certainly on his way to doing so. Unless a budget deal can be reached in Congress, the government will shut down on December 8, 2017. Trump stated emphatically on Tuesday morning:
‘I don’t see a deal!’
Senators Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), after seeing Trump’s tweet, announced that they would not attend the White House meeting that was scheduled to discuss the budget. However, they made it clear that they want to continue working with Republicans in Congress to strike a deal by the December 8 deadline.
People were fired up on Twitter after Trump’s Tuesday night tweet:
