Ex-NBC Employee Breaks Silence On Lauer’s Disgusting Behavior & The Network Coverup

-

An ex-NBC employee is furious with the network and has come forward to talk about Matt Lauer, sexual harassment, and news that management knew that something very wrong was going on with Lauer for some time.

The former employee told Variety that higher-ups at the network failed to protect employees when it protected Matt Lauer.

The former NBC reporter, who didn’t want to reveal their identity, said:

‘Management sucks there. They protected the shit out of Matt Lauer.’

The former reporter continued, speaking of the power that former anchor Matt Lauer held:

‘There is such shame with Matt Lauer not liking you. I did this special with him and we were traveling and I had a cold sore on my lip and heard him say to Bryant Gumbel, “She has this really ugly cold sore on her lip,” like that was something to be ashamed of. He was just really cruel.’

In the piece published by Variety are details about a series of allegations made against Matt Lauer. One such incident included Lauer dropping his pants in front of a female coworker and getting mad when she refused to engage in a sex act with him. Another incident was when Lauer sent a sex toy to a co-worker, along with a description of how he’d like to “use it on her.”

According to the report, the decision from NBC to fire Lauer came following sexual misconduct allegations made by an employee of the network. Apparently it’s been ongoing, happening multiple times since the 2014 Olympics. The former NBC reporter that spoke with Variety said that Lauer has a long history of inappropriate behavior in the workplace and that he has a “fixation on women, especially their bodies and looks.”

Even more shocking still was the report revealing that Lauer, “had a button under his desk that allowed him to lock his door from the inside without getting up.”

A former producer said:

‘There were a lot of consensual relationships, but that’s still a problem because of the power he held. He couldn’t sleep around town with celebrities or on the road with random people, because he’s Matt Lauer and he’s married. So he’d have to do it within his stable, where he exerted power, and he knew people would never complain.’

This morning hosts of NBC’s The Today Show, Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie spoke to the audience about the firing of Matt Lauer, although both seem to condemn his actions, both were visibly upset about the announcement. You can see the Today Show segment in the video below:

Camera’s caught Guthrie and Kotb embracing during an off camera moment, following the announcement.

Sexual assault has been an issue for years, but with the recent #MeToo movement, along with women coming together to call out Harvey Weinstein, both men and women have finally felt empowered to come forward about the abuse they’ve suffered at the hands of very powerful individuals. It’s unacceptable. It shouldn’t be tolerated.
