After Gen. Michael Flynn, former national security adviser to Trump, pled guilty to lying to the FBI, the news broke that Flynn revealed he had received directions from senior transition team officials to reach out to Russia.
It was huge.
However, Fox News went into damage control mode, and now they’ve come up with a doozy of an explanation to exonerate their orange idol.
In an appearance on Fox & Friends Weekend, Charles Hurt defended Trump and his team. Along with appearing on Fox News regularly, Hurt is an editor at The Washington Times and contributes to Breitbart if that tells you anything.
In his appearance, he explained it was all okay because it all happened after Trump had won the presidency and being president-elect is different than being a candidate.
‘What Mike Flynn is talking about are conversations he had with the president after the election. If you want to collude to rig the election, the collusion has to happen before the election, not after the election.’

What Hurt fails to mention is that Don Jr. did sit down with a Russian lawyer in hopes of digging up dirt on Hillary Clinton.
He also forgot to mention Jared Kushner did want a back door of communication with the Russians.
How do you explain that? You’re trying to say that doesn’t matter, and Trump knew nothing about any of that?
The American people can’t be that stupid to believe that. Some will, though.
However, why would a presidential transition team worry so much about Russia? They are definitely a major force to reckon with in the global community, but at a time when Trump’s transition team should have been transitioning him into the White House, they were worried about Russia? Can someone please explain that?
This is just a desperate attempt by Fox News and Trump’s most ardent supporters to spin everything in a way that is favorable enough to keep the orange man in office.
However, the walls are closing in on Trump. Mueller is coming for him. With Flynn ready to squeal like a pig, there is a good chance Trump could be implicated in something. However, if not, it’s already been revealed Kushner has done some beyond questionable things. If Trump doesn’t go down, his most beloved family will.
Fox News may try to spin it, but Twitter users weren’t letting them get by with it. You can check out their responses below.
