Donald Trump apparently considers pedophilia in a candidate acceptable, as long as the man is a Republican. The president claimed during his campaign that he was going to “drain the swamp.” What he forgot to mention was that he was going to invite the swamp creatures into the White House for dinner.
Trump originally supported Luther Strange in the Alabama election to fill the Senate seat Attorney General (AG) Jeff Session left open when he joined the president’s cabinet. Trump’s former senior adviser, Steve Bannon, prefers the less-than-sterling characters. He backed Roy Moore, who has been accused of sexually molesting a 14-year-old girl, whom he picked up at her custody hearing and sexually attacking a 16-year-old girl when he was in his 30’s.
When Moore beat Strange, the man in the Oval Office decided to back Moore, who was kicked off of the state Supreme Court twice. Bannon will hold a rally with Moore Tuesday, and Trump is attending a campaign-style rally in Pensacola, Florida, which is a media center for Alabama’s fourth largest city. He will be only 20 miles from the Alabama state border.
Monday morning, the candidate tweeted:
‘Thankful for President Trump’s support. The America First agenda will #MAGA. Can’t wait to help him #DrainTheSwamp.’
Democratic prosecutor Doug Jones is running against Moore in the December 12 election. The Democrat was responsible in part for convicting two Ku Klux Klan members after they bombed a Birmingham, Alabama African American church. The 1963 bombing killed four young girls.
Majority Leader of the Senate, Republican Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, told the Associated Press Sunday that he believed the Senate Ethics Committee would investigate Moore should he be elected, The Guardian reported he said:
‘I think that at this point, we’re just going to let the people of Alabama make their decision.’
According to The Guardian, when he appeared on ABC’s This Week, McConnell said:
‘The ethics committee will have to consider the matters that have been litigated in the campaign should that particular candidate win. And I’m confident they’ll come up with the right conclusion.’
The candidate’s wife, Kayla Moore, wrote on her Facebook page:
‘Judge Moore just got off the phone with President Trump. We have his full support! Thank you Mr President! Let’s MAGA!’
A spokesperson for the Moore campaign confirmed the call with The Guardian:
‘President Trump called Judge Moore a “fighter” and expressed his eagerness to have Judge Moore fighting for his agenda in Washington. The president wrapped up the call with a “go get ’em, Roy!”‘
White House spokesperson Raj Shah issued a statement later, which read:
‘The president had a positive call with Judge Roy Moore during which they discussed the state of the Alabama Senate race and the president endorsed Judge Moore’s campaign.’
Early Monday, Trump tweeted:
‘Democrats refusal to give even one vote for massive tax cuts is why we need Republican Roy Moore to win in Alabama. We need his vote on stopping crime, illegal immigration, Border Wall, Military, Pro Life, V.A., Judges 2nd Amendment and more. No to Jones, a Pelosi/Schumer Puppet!’
In a second tweet, Trump wrote about Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer:
‘Putting Pelosi/Schumer Liberal Puppet Jones into office in Alabama would hurt our great Republican Agenda of low on taxes, tough on crime, strong on military and borders…& so much more.’
