The epidemic of gun violence in the United States has taken another nasty turn this Thursday morning, while Republican lawmakers continue to sit around and do nothing.
Within months of one of the deadliest mass shooting incidents in U.S. history out in Las Vegas, and also within months of the high profile, horrifying church shooting in Texas, it’s being reported that although there is no longer an active threat, at least two people have been shot at Aztec High School in New Mexico.
The school was locked down and evacuated, according to local police.
There is no immediate apparent indication of key details of the case, including the identity of the shooter, a possible motive, and the identities and conditions of the victims.
According to a local reporter, the FBI will be assisting in the investigation into the incident.
Local schools besides the one that was targeted went on lock down as a precautionary measure early Thursday morning.
All in all, there have been an estimated nearly 15,000 deaths from gun violence in the United States since January 1 of this year.
It has long been time to do something about gun violence in the United States.
Although, again, it’s not immediately clear who the victims are in the Thursday incident in New Mexico, how many more children have to be shot for the nation’s leadership to do something?
