If you think Donald Trump can’t get any stupider, he’ll usually tell Vice President Mike Pence to hold his Diet Coke and watch what he can pull off. He pulled that again Thursday afternoon when he tweeted about global warming.
‘In the East, it could be the COLDEST New Year’s Eve on record. Perhaps we could use a little bit of that good old Global Warming that our Country, but not other countries, was going to pay TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS to protect against. Bundle up!’
Seriously? It’s the type of tweet you stop somebody and say, “Listen to this BS.”
Twitter went nuts over it, and so did Vinny Guadagnino. Guadagnino was on the wildly popular MTV show Jersey Shore that ran from 2009 to 2012. After starting an entire trend of hair gel and Ed Hardy fashion, Guadagnino now pushes the issue of climate change, and he responded to Trump’s tweet, and it wasn’t pretty. He responded to Trump’s tweet:
‘I think climate change is more complex than global warming will make it hotter. It has to do with disruptions of atmospheric conditions, ocean patterns, jet streams and shit like that.’
Users responded to Guadagnino saying what we’re probably all thinking. It’s pretty sad when a cast member from Jersey Shore educates the president. Guadagnino took offense at that and tweeted:
‘Per my last tweet about global warming and ppl saying it’s bad when someone from “jersey shore” educates the president etc.I get the joke but why does having a summer shore house automatically make u stupid? No smart ppl ever partied with friends on weekends?’
Of course, he’s right. He’s even more right considering he majored in political science, held a 3.9 GPA, and served as an aide to an assemblyman in New York. Just saying.
However, if you remove his celebrity status, he ends up being a regular person. Trump is the president of the United States. He has access to advisers that could at least give him a factually wrong explanation of why climate change isn’t real that would at least sound half-way intelligent. However, he spouts off pure idiocy instead.
The point is the American people shouldn’t have to take to Twitter to educate the president on climate change or really anything else for that matter. He’s the president. We expect the president of the United States at least to be semi-educated or at least sound intelligent. What do you expect from a guy that lives his life in 280 characters on Twitter, though?
So yes, the guy from Jersey Shore educated the president on climate change. With his status though as a television personality, he can push the issue and reach a younger audience that may not pay as much attention to what is going on in the country.
We need more people doing this from the regular person to an A-list celebrity. Many have joined in, but much more is needed to join the resistance and fight the misguided and uneducated Trump agenda.
Perhaps, there is a fear they would face boycotts, but Guadagnino’s tweet makes us want to watch reruns of Jersey Shore. They won’t face a detrimental boycott if they speak out, and they should. The country needs it.
