Mike Flynn Jr., the son of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, has made waves in the past with his choice of content on social media, but Thursday he choose to share a blatantly racist tweet that isn’t doing the family image any favors.
Michael Flynn Jr. has a history of sharing right-wing extremist content on his Twitter account, as he did throughout the 2016 U.S. presidential election, and on Thursday he retweeted a conversation that he agreed with. Laura Loomer is a right-wing journalist that Flynn Jr. follows and shared a conspiracy theory about Jewish people controlling the mainstream media.
The conversation, which resulted in a retweet from Flynn Jr., started when Loomer, who happens to be Jewish, shared on her Twitter account that “Jews do control the banks… and the media.” When she was asked to prove her claim Loomer shared a list of Jewish media CEOs, which Michael Flynn Jr. then retweeted.
Conspiracy theorists believe that Fox News founder Rupert Murdoch is Jewish, but Murdoch has said that he isn’t.
Later that same day Michael Flynn Jr. shared a tweet from Rupert Murdoch himself:
Even with his father shamed and in hot water after pleading guilty to lying to the F.B.I. and agreeing to cooperate with special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russia collusion, Mike Flynn Jr. refuses to stop sharing racist conspiracy theories on his Twitter account. At this point, no one is surprised the son of a man who is now facing charges for lying, is an awful person.
The former National Security Adviser, whose son served as a Trump transitional team member, is probably best known for his outburst during the 2016 Republican National Convention, during which he led chants from the stage (speaking of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton):
‘Lock her up!’
In September news broke that Michael Flynn Jr. would also be investigated during the Russian probe. Flynn Jr. worked closely with his father during the campaign and was well known for retweeting crazy nonsense conspiracy theories, like Pizzagate.
