Donald Trump is an insufferable liar and one of the most corrupt individuals to ever disgrace the White House. The only thing worse than his miserable attempt at governance is the unstoppable stream of contemptible mewlings he spews forth on Twitter like a deranged and racist Floridian nursing home escapee.
Today the Whiner-in-Chief is at it again. After attacking the media hundreds of times during 2017, Trump decided to start off 2018 with some good old fashioned whipping of a dead horse. After making nearly two thousand demonstrably false statements in 2017, as well as refusing to release his tax returns while profiting from the presidency, Trump decided (at the height of his brilliance) to tweet the following statement:
‘I will be announcing THE MOST DISHONEST & CORRUPT MEDIA AWARDS OF THE YEAR on Monday at 5:00 o’clock. Subjects will cover Dishonesty & Bad Reporting in various categories from the Fake News Media. Stay tuned!’
Hopefully there is a “twitter” category so he can call himself out for all of his misleading statements and direct lies, but it’s still unclear how he’ll have time in the first place, between golf, tweeting, and gorging himself on fast food like a prediabetic raccoon. Here’s the tweet itself:
Of course, Donald Trump doesn’t actually mean “fake” when he says “fake news.” He means “mean to me.” When CNN covers a hurricane, or a major accident, or world events, or disease outbreaks, or feel good stories nobody cares about, or court cases, Trump never says “this story is fake! They’re making it up! Don’t trust the media!”
No, he just thinks they have a political agenda because they report accurately on the things he does, and reality is not a pretty picture for Trump. You’d think being incredibly rich and in the White House would be good enough, but Trump craves compliments, attention, and approval like a junkie. That’s why he constantly lies to himself and surrounds himself with other people who will lie to him, too.
Twitter’s response to him was predictably brutal, so you have to wonder who is filtering replies for him to make him feel better:
The Republican Party likes to characterize itself as the party of “personal responsibility,” so if Donald Trump wants to start holding people accountable for lies, he should probably start with himself.
‘For example, Trump said in the interview that “virtually every Democrat” has said that the Trump campaign did not collude with the Russians during the 2016 election, while there was “tremendous collusion” between Democrats and the Russians.
‘That’s not just false but “breathtakingly false,” as one fact-checker put it. Democrats have not exonerated Trump, though some have been circumspect about what we know and don’t know about Russian meddling, and there is little evidence that Democrats were colluding with Russia.
‘In fact, the CIA, FBI and National Security Agency found in January of 2017 that Russia aimed to discredit Hillary Clinton and help Trump’s chances in the election, so the claim doesn’t make much sense.
‘The interview was not an outlier, either.
‘A year-end review of untrue claims from FactCheck.org found Trump dominating the list with remarks on everything from his inauguration to the Russia investigation to his own tax bill. Of PolitiFact’s 483 fact checks on Trump so far, 69% were rated “mostly false,” “false” or “pants on fire,” and his claims on Russian meddling were the “Lie of the Year.” The Washington Post found 1,950 false or misleading claims made over 347 days.’
Donald Trump is a liar. He is dishonest through and through. He has built a career on conning people and stiffing workers, and he continues to do exactly the same while in office. Any person who takes a “dishonest and corrupt media award” from such a man seriously is self-deluded and beyond reason.
