‘The Daily Show’ Just Took Out A Full-Page Ad In NY Times That Has Trump About To Blow

-

When Trump announced he would be holding an award show for “THE MOST DISHONEST & CORRUPT MEDIA,” he probably thought he was being witty and cute. One problem, however, exists. There are several comedians and late-night talk show hosts who are way more hilarious than Trump could ever dream of being.

On January 2, Trump tweeted:

‘I will be announcing THE MOST DISHONEST & CORRUPT MEDIA AWARDS OF THE YEAR on Monday at 5:00 o’clock. Subjects will cover Dishonesty & Bad Reporting in various categories from the Fake News Media. Stay tuned!’

Trump could be worrying about a nuclear showdown with North Korea, the economy, tax reform, healthcare, the 2018 elections, and a multitude of other things. However, the “fake news” is what’s going on in that thick orange skull of his.

If he thought though that media outlets would have their feelings hurt, he was mistaken. In fact, late night television has had a grand time with the tweet. In fact, they’ve had such a great time they are openly contending for a trophy.

Recently, Stephen Colbert took out an ad on a huge billboard in Times Square begging Trump to consider him for an award.

He also commented:

‘Personally, I’m excited for your Dishonest & Corrupt Media Awards. Or, as we call them in the business, the Fakies …

‘I’m hoping to be nominated in all categories.’

However, Colbert is not the only late night host hoping for an award.

A full ad was placed in the New York Times by The Daily Show calling on Trump to consider them for an award also. In the ad, they included quotes from various right-wing outlets including Breitbart, Fox & Friends, and The New York Post.

Also in the list of contenders, Samantha Bee has jumped in the ring hoping to win the award for “Shrillest Reporting.” Bee tweeted:

‘Nice try @colbertlateshow and @TheDailyShow, but we’re sweeping the #Dishonesties this year. (P.S. @realdonaldtrump, how about a female host next time?)’

Trump has consistently complained and whined about the media treating him unfairly. We’re not sure what the angle of Trump’s award show is considering it’s doing the opposite of what he probably intended; however, it’s definitely providing plenty of material to the various outlets that refuse to give his presidency and administration a free pass. For that, we are thankful.

However, it’s disturbing that this is what Trump fills his time with. Yes, the Dow is at record highs. However, American diplomacy has basically been shattered, and Trump is tweeting out messages to North Korea’s dictator Kim Jong-un that basically equate to a measuring contest.

What can you really expect from a man that is a former reality television star and is known for holding the Miss Universe pageants? That’s all he knows how to do.
