Multiple Olympic athletes have made their feelings about the Trump administration known, with figure skater Adam Rippon being perhaps the most well-known for his feud with Vice President Mike Pence.
Yet he’s not the only one. Gus Kenworthy, a 26-year-old skier, Olympic medalist, and six-time world champion, just took Ivanka to task on Twitter with an epic roast.
He posted a picture of Americans at the Olympics, remarking “So proud of all these people! Everybody here has worked so hard to make it to the Olympics and have the opportunity to walk in the closing ceremony! Well… Everyone except Ivanka. Honestly, tf is she doing here??”

Here are some of the responses to his viral post:
He’s right, of course. Having Ivanka Trump lead the delegation to the closing ceremony of the 2018 Olympic Games is a joke and an insult to the athletes. Trump likely thinks that they’re graced by the simple presence of his bloodline, but in the real world, appointing a person whose accomplishments and standing in the world are wholly due to her connections and multigenerational advantages to lead a delegation of athletes whose stories are the very definition of effort and perseverance is inappropriate at best, and flatly disrespectful at worst.
The Olympic Games are about fair competition, perseverance, struggle, training, respect. Ivanka Trump represents the exact opposite of that. She’s a representative of nepotism, corruption, and kleptocracy. The disgraceful presence of her family in the White House is only eclipsed by the moments during which they expose themselves to the world, heightening our newfound status as an international pariah and laughingstock. The Trumps imagine themselves to be a royal family. They’re as far as it gets from representing the American people, much less our Olympic athletes.
Adam Rippon and Gus Kenworthy, who are both openly gay, have an important platform and voice thanks to their Olympic abilities. Instead of keeping their mouths shut and taking the easy path, they’re using their voices to speak truth to power. That’s something to be admired. Critics of their speech have been loud and hateful (while notably absent from the Games themselves), but dissent is more American than acquiescence to the Trumps.
