A significant — and growing — number of people in America are distressed about how Donald Trump has been managing the country. His bias against certain groups of people has become glaringly evident according to a new The Associated Press/NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll.

A full 57 percent of people in general believe that the president is a racist. Among African-Americans, 80 percent agree, and 75 percent of Hispanics agree, too. Almost half of white people also said that they think Trump is a racist. That is statistically significant, because those policies directly affect African-Americans and Hispanics. On the other hand, white people can only make observations.

When respondents were asked whether the commander-in-chief’s policies for Muslims were bad, 57 percent said yes. In addition, 56 percent say that they believe Trump’s policies have been bad for Hispanics.

While those overall numbers were identical given the margin of error, there was one set of dramatically different numbers.  The difference between the Democrats’ and the Republicans’ perception of Trump as a racist was 85 percent and 21 percent respectively.

Forty-seven percent of the respondents believed the president’s policies have negatively affected African-Americans, and 75 percent of black respondents thought so.

Last year, a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, VA turned ugly. One member of the rally ran a protester down with his car, and she died from those injuries. Instead of condemning the man for what was an intentional murder of a peaceful protester, the president said that there was violence on “many sides.” Trump also said that among the white nationalist crowd there were “some very fine people.”

The first day that Donald Trump made his announcement that he was running for president, he said that Hispanic people coming into the U.S. were rapists and drug dealers. It was no surprise that he retweeted white supremacists’ messages and demanded that people from seven predominantly Muslim countries be banned — even those on one leg of their journey flying here.

Trump also caused international furor when he retweeted a fake video from a far-right British group. The video showed a boy who looked as if he might belong to an ethnic group beat up a handicapped blond boy. According to The Guardian, the U.S. president tossed the incident off when he said:

‘Perhaps it was a big story in Britain, perhaps it was a big story in the UK, but in the United States it wasn’t a big story.’

The man sitting in the Oval Office met with lawmakers this year, and asked them why our nation should let immigrants from “shithole countries” into the U.S. He was referring to Haiti, El Salvador, and a few African countries.

PBS reported some of his more notable acts of discrimination:

‘He is a man who was accused of racial discrimination multiple times at his businesses…He was among the loudest voices attacking the legitimacy of the nation’s first black president…He has a Jewish daughter and grandchildren, yet left Jews out of a Holocaust remembrance statement.’
