Although the belligerent businessman Donald Trump currently occupies the White House, the fact remains that he is the farthest thing from a model of a good and effective president. He does not actually pay attention to the concerns of the people he is supposed to be leading. For a model not just of a good presidency but of effective leadership in general, Americans can turn to the Obamas.
Now, Americans will have a new way to get to know the Obamas. Recently, it was revealed that a memoir written by Michelle Obama is set to hit stores later this year, just a short time after the midterm elections.

Called Becoming, it will allow Americans to get to know the woman who served as a part of the public face of the White House for eight years. During that time, she established herself as an advocate for issues like children’s health and women’s rights and education, pushing for the establishment of important programs to further those causes.
Commenting on the book’s upcoming release in a prepared statement, the former first lady said:
‘Writing BECOMING has been a deeply personal experience. It has allowed me, for the very first time, the space to honestly reflect on the unexpected trajectory of my life. In this book, I talk about my roots and how a little girl from the South Side of Chicago found her voice and developed the strength to use it to empower others. I hope my journey inspires readers to find the courage to become whoever they aspire to be.’
It would be refreshing if we had people still in the White House who sought to inspire Americans in such a fashion, but instead we just have the belligerent Donald Trump, who sticks to firing off endless incendiary and often bullying tweets. Him doing so is especially ironic considering the fact that although she’s yet to take any major steps towards that goal, Melania Trump has indicated that she’s interested in taking on childhood bullying as a pet cause of sorts. She is, in reality, married to one of the currently most prominent bullies in the entire country.
Although as a part of Trump’s endless bullying, he has attempted to erase the relevance of the Obamas, including through such means as leading the “birther” movement, he has not proven successful in the slightest.
Besides the book coming from the former first lady, there is also a memoir coming soon from former FBI Director James Comey, who Trump abruptly fired last year. Comey’s memoir, set for an April release, is called A Higher Loyalty and comes after the former FBI Director told stories of being pressured by the president to wind down aspects to the Russia investigation.
Comey, obviously, did not oblige, and soon after his abrupt firing, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who had taken over the Russia investigation in the face of Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ recusal, appointed Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
Mueller has so far brought charges against four former associates of the president, besides an array of other interests, with the president insisting through the whole thing that there’s nothing to the scandal.
