It must be very fulfilling to work for Donald Trump’s administration. All kinds of the best people are just clamoring to join his team. Apparently, his leadership is second to none…just ask him and he’ll freely tell you how good he is. Oh wait a second, I must have been thinking of some other White House administration. Because in reality, Donald Trump couldn’t lead a team out of a wet paper bag. So, it’s not surprising to learn today that yet another person will be fleeing from Trump and the White House.
POLITICO just reported that National Security Council spokesman Michael Anton will be leaving his post to take a job at Hillsdale College’s Kirby Center, as a writer and lecturer. Though he has not yet determined when his last day will be, he is expected to leave the White House in the coming weeks. The main body of his work for the administration was spent as spokesman for the recently fired H.R. McMaster.
‘The education I received and the friends I made are — apart from my family and my country — the most cherished things in my life. I am delighted to be returning to my first love and second family,’ Anton said, referring to Hillsdale College and the Claremont Institute.
Anton was a fervent defender of Trump’s America First foreign policy, and could often be found on television defending the administration’s foreign policy stances, even going so far as arguing with cable news anchors about them.
So, what does this latest departure say about Trump’s ability to lead? He may claim to be the best leader the world has ever seen, but if no one stays to follow him, he’ll just be left leading himself around in circles. It must embarrass him greatly that, after all his bluster about being a proven leader, no one wants to work with or for him. That must drive him crazy. Maybe that’s why he so often sounds like a lunatic when he’s tweeting during the many hours of “Executive Time” he carves out every day.
