While the right-wing failure to be moved by either teenage survivors of a school shooting in Parkland, Florida that left 17 people dead or the parents and families of 20 murdered elementary school children and six school officials at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut, has been stunning, it will be difficult for them to ignore the dangers police officers face because of the easy access to guns in this country.

Two police officers and one civilian were shot near a Home Depot in northeast Dallas, Texas on Tuesday. Sources confirm that one officer has died. The other is currently listed in critical condition, although the civilian’s injuries or medical status has not yet been reported.

The Dallas Morning News reports that:

‘Officers were searching for the suspected shooter near the wooded area and along the creek behind the store.

‘Dallas police were helping an off-duty officer working with store security to make an arrest when shots were fired, KXAS-TV (NBC5) reported.’

An NBC affiliate in Dallas-Ft. Worth issued a photo of 29-year-old Armando Juarez, who is wanted for questioning in relation to the shooting, although law enforcement says he is not a suspect at this time.

A statement issued by the Dallas Police Department on Twitter also said:

‘We can confirm that two Dallas PD officers have been shot and critically wounded. We will provide updates as we get them. Please pray for our officers and their families.’
