Michael Cohen Announces Plan To Assert 5th Amendment Like A Scared Future Inmate

-

Everyone’s waiting with bated breath to find out if Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, will hold his tongue and be sent to prison, or if he’ll sing like a canary and turn on Trump. Most pundits believe that Cohen will talk, if it will save him from going to prison. Only time will tell what he’s going to do.

Before Cohen faces charges in his criminal investigation though, he’ll have to take care of a little matter of a lawsuit brought about by former adult film actress Stormy Daniels. The news broke today that he plans to assert his Fifth Amendment rights in that lawsuit.

‘Based on the advice of counsel, I will assert my 5th amendment rights in connection with all proceeding in this case due to the ongoing criminal investigation by the FBI and U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.’  Cohen wrote in a court filing today.

Cohen also said that the FBI’s raid of his office, hotel, and home, while looking for information about the $130,000 hush money payment he made to Daniels, played a huge part in his decision not to testify. Considering that Cohen is also under investigation for possible bank fraud and campaign finance violations, and it’s certain that the FBI was also looking for evidence surrounding that investigation too.

Daniels’ attorney, Michael Avenatti, took to Twitter to comment on today’s bewildering announcement.

What a tangled web Donald Trump has been weaving in Washington D.C. He’s been under investigation from the moment he first took office. We’re finding out that he’s as dirty as can be, and he’s apparently surrounded himself with other dirty characters. His personal lawyer has been forced to hire his own lawyer because he’s so corrupt. What we have here is one corrupt person covering for another corrupt person and eventually all their corruption is going to lead to their downfall. It will be glorious to watch when the law takes down the man who claims to be the law and order president.
