The continuous turnstile in the Donald Trump administration has spun a significant person out the door. This time, it was his lead attorney, one that was a voice for cooperation. The new guy is a fighter.

Ty Cobb took the approach of cooperating with Special Counsel Robert Mueller in the Russia investigation. The special counsel has been looking into Russia’s attack on the 2016 president election and any possible conspiracy with the Trump campaign. Cobb wanted Trump to talk with Mueller.

On the other hand, Emmet Flood handled the President Bill Clinton impeachment. He is from a top-league law firm and will fight every attempt by Mueller to interview the commander-in-chief.

The problem is that Trump believes he is the smartest man in the room, including smarter than his attorneys. That leads to him not following his attorney’s advice.

Trump is buried in legal problems. Adult entertainment star and producer Stormy Daniels, who real name is Stephanie Clifford, sued Trump for defamation of character and to release her from an unsigned nondisclosure agreement. Her attorney is a pit bull.

Michael Avenatti noted that 45 is “not disciplined.” He told MSNBC’s Ali Velshi:

‘(Trump is) not disciplined, aggressive very very bad situation for the person who isn’t disciplined.’

It just came to light that Mueller told Trump’s attorney that either the president would come in for an interview willingly, or the special counsel will subpoena him.

That would create an interesting dilemma. Whether a sitting president must comply with a subpoena has never been tried in the Supreme Court. Of course, that would delay matters, and Trump is not a patient man.

Cobb told Trump several weeks prior to his retirement, he wanted out. The 67-year-old attorney will probably remain until the month’s end in order to transition Flood into his new role. Cobb told The New York Times:

‘It has been an honor to serve the country in this capacity at the White House. I wish everybody well moving forward.’

The final decision to hire Flood has not been completely worked out. After all, Trump has a problem of backing out of personnel decisions, if they first hit the press.

Last October, Cobb said:

‘There is not and will not be any consideration of terminating the special counsel, Bob Mueller. I think the path that he chose of trying to minimize conflict and maximize cooperation is one that benefits the country.’
