American Urban Radio Networks reporter April Ryan always seems to be a thorn in the side of White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. When there’s something extra juicy going on in the White House, Ryan refuses to let Sanders just sweep it under the rug. The two had a little back and forth today which culminated in Ryan accusing Sanders of playing “street politics”.
In a round-a-bout way today’s incident was the fault of Rudy Giuliani. He went on Fox and Friends yesterday and made Donald Trump and Sarah Sanders look like the biggest liars in Washington D.C.; after he admitted that Trump not only knew about hush money that was paid to Stormy Daniels, but that he really repaid Cohen the money for the transaction. Which could be found to be highly illegal.
During today’s presser Ryan accused Sanders of being blindsided by Giuliani’s admission, and Sanders responded with “you don’t know me”. Ryan said in a CNN interview after their exchange that,
‘It was a moment. She took this personally [being accused of being blindsided] and it was not a personal attack. She admitted at that podium just moments ago and I’m sure she’s watching in her office, ‘Hi, Sarah,’ that she literally said at that podium that she heard Rudy Giuliani while we heard it.’
‘She was watching, she found out all of the information while she was watching Fox last night. So she was blindsided. This was not a personal attack on her. And for her to say something like, ‘You don’t know me’ — that was very street’.
‘I know there are street politics here but that was very street. I’ve been here 21 years from this White House, from the second term of Bill Clinton until the first term of Donald J. Trump. I’ve seen impeachment, I’ve seen war, I’ve seen peace. So I understand the process. I’m not a dummy and do not discredit me. That’s what my comeback was.’ Ryan said.
The soap opera that is the Donald Trump White House just keeps getting better and better. It’s almost like we’re watching an episode of Jerry Springer but with much more at stake.
