Even when there’s good news coming out of Trump’s White House, there’s always a fear that he will somehow make a mess of it and embarrass the country. Peace talks with North Korea would have been fantastic news, but as per usual, Trump had to make a mess of it. Tax cuts sounded great until Americans found out that the benefits to them were minuscule while the super rich raked in the cash. Even the release of a hostage can make people nervous after Trump’s idiotic behavior when the first set of hostages were released from North Korea.

It’s impossible to forget the preening Trump did in front of news cameras while hostages who just wanted to be reunited with their families stood around while Trump got his photo ops. His comments to the media about having the greatest ratings of all times thanks to the release of the hostages were embarrassing, to say the least.

While all Americans are happy to see hostages released and good things happen for our country and its citizens, it’s hard to put aside all the worrisome aspects of Trump’s presidency. One of those aspects is Trump’s denial of his own horrific actions and his tendency to blame Democrats for everything, which brings us to his second tweet of the day.

Trump can pretend all he likes that President Obama and the Democrats in Congress are responsible for the horrors being inflicted on undocumented immigrants seeking refuse in the United States, but that’s simply untrue. Separating families is not a new phenomenon, but separating children from their mothers absolutely is. In fact, Trump’s appointed head of the Department of Justice promised to do even more of it and refused to apologize for the practice. During a press conference in the first week of May, Sessions warned that:

‘If you are smuggling a child then we will prosecute you, and that child will be separated from you as required by law. If you don’t like that, then don’t smuggle children over our border.’

Of course this is all the Democrats’ fault since Trump is taking criticism for it. However, his racist rhetoric about MS-13, painting all undocumented immigrants as dangerous criminals to be feared, is all on him, and the separation of migrant children and the abuses they suffer in detention centers is a policy for which Trump must accept responsibility, also. Why does he lie about things like this? For one reason: it gives his rabid fan base a defense to argue anytime their president is criticized as inhumane.

Twitter was not impressed with Trump’s morning rant. See some of their comments below:
