Sad news came on Sunday about the ongoing health issues of President George H.W. Bush. The 93-year-old Bush had most recently suffered from bouts of pneumonia and chronic bronchitis earlier in January and a blood infection in April, making concerns about his health grow serious.
President @GeorgeHWBush was taken to Southern Maine Health Care (@SMHCHealth) today after experiencing low blood pressure and fatigue. He will likely remain there for a few days for observation. The former president is awake and alert, and not in any discomfort.

Reuters reports that family spokesman Jim McGrath says Bush was rushed to a hospital in Maine to be treated for fatigue and low blood pressure. His medical emergency followed a day of public appearances.
‘On Saturday, Bush attended an American Legion event in Kennebunkport, Maine to mark the upcoming Memorial Day with military veterans and his former national security adviser Brent Scowcroft, according to a post on Bushâs official Twitter feed.’
Delighted to join the veterans, including my dear friend Gen. Brent Scowcroft, at the @AmericanLegion Post 159 monthly pancake breakfast in Kennebunkport today. This weekend we remember, and thank, all who have given their lives for our great country. pic.twitter.com/VQgfPmt5rw

The Bush family suffered a loss on April 17 when the former first lady, Barbara Bush, passed away at 92 years old due to complications from  congestive heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD). President Bush was reportedly “broken-hearted” and at his wife’s side during her decline. The two had been married for 73 years. He was hospitalized shortly after her funeral for a blood infection.
Former President George HW Bush said, after his wife was buried, and he was hospitalized, that he wanted to leave the hospital and head for his home in Maine. He did, and his arrival today was like a parade. https://t.co/1lkox2zODH pic.twitter.com/8GxPwPX8H4

Bush served as president of the United States from 1989 to 1993. His son, George W. Bush, became president eight years later and his younger son, Jeb Bush, served as governor of Florida and ran against Donald Trump in the 2016 Republican presidential primary.
