Trump Makes Ramadan Announcement That Has Americans Beyond Shocked (DETAILS)

Mr. Trump has been anything but welcoming to Muslims in this country throughout his campaign and presidency. During his 2016 campaign, he told Anderson Cooper:

‘I think Islam hates us.’

Early in his presidency, he enacted a travel ban which amounted to banning most Muslims from entering the country. In fact, just one month ago, Trump said he would not apologize for calling for a “Muslim ban.”

A reporter told Trump:

‘The lawyers for the opponents said that if you would simply apologize for some of your rhetoric during the campaign, the whole case would go away.’

Mr. Trump responded:

‘I don’t think it would, No. 1. And there’s no reason to apologize. Our immigration laws in this country are a total disaster. They’re laughed at all over the world — they’re laughed at for their stupidity, and we have to have strong immigration laws. So I think if I apologize, it wouldn’t make 10 cents’ worth of difference to them. There’s nothing to apologize for.’

Regardless though, it looks like he is going to host his first-ever Ramadan dinner. According to POLITICO:

‘President Donald Trump will host an iftar dinner at the White House next week to recognize the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, according to a White House official, a departure from last year’s decision not to host the traditional post-sundown meal.’

Last year, Mr. Trump broke with nearly two decades of tradition when he did not host an annual Ramadan meal as previous presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama have done.

At the beginning of Ramadan last month, Trump issued a statement saying:

‘Ramadan reminds us of the richness Muslims add to the religious tapestry of American life.’
