Everyone knew that if Donald Trump and notoriously anti-gay bigot Mike Pence took office there would be dark days ahead for LGBTQ people in this country. It only took a little over a year for those dark days to become a reality. After the Supreme Court ruled that a baker could legally discriminate against gay people by refusing to serve them, anti-gay bigots are going to start coming out of the woodwork. Take what happened in Tennessee for example. An anti-gay bigot hardware store owner posted a “No Gays Allowed” sign in front of his store this week.
Jeff Amyx, who owns Amyx Hardware & Roofing Supplies in Washburn, Tennessee originally put the sign up in 2015 after the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage but was forced to remove it after the people in his town became outraged. Well apparently he longer cares about his town’s outrage because he put the sign back up after the court’s recent anti-gay ruling.
Amyx told his local NBC affiliate that the court’s ruling came as a shock to him, but also said that it was a victory for Christianity.
‘Christianity is under attack. This is a great win, don’t get me wrong, but this is not the end, this is just the beginning. Right now, we’re seeing a ray of sunshine. This is happy days for Christians all over America, but dark days will come.’
Apparently he reads a different Christian bible than most people, because real Christianity is all about helping our fellow citizens. His version of Christianity sounds more like the extremist version of religion that ISIS follows. Like maybe he’s following Sharia law for a new American Taliban perhaps.
Well hopefully his fellow citizens will let their outrage flow again and boycott his store. If the Supreme Court won’t protect our gay friends and family members, it’ll be up to everyday common citizens to make things right. This new legal anti-gay mentality falls squarely on Donald Trump and Mike Pence. They ran on a platform of hate, and they’ve made sure to bring hate back in a big way and it’s disgusting.
