This country is in the worst humanitarian crisis since slavery and Japanese internment camps. This isn’t because of Democrats, or MS-13, or anyone else other than Donald Trump and his administration. The American people has listened to lies, excuses, disgusting justifications, and the cruel demonization of immigrants long enough. It is time to act and demand change.
Trump has convinced his supporters that locking babies up in cages is his way of keeping everyone safe from the eight ten-thousandths of one percent of immigrants who are part of the violent gang called MS-13. His supporters believe that breaking a law classified as a misdemeanor deserves being treated inhumanely and having children ripped away and placed separately with no communicated plan for reunification. They believe that this has always been happening, that it happened under Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama.
None of that is true.
There is no time to try to argue with them, to debate the issue, or to try to convince them. It is time for those who will not stand for these human rights abuses to act. It’s time to speak out, protest, and most of all, it is time to exercise our rights as citizens and vote the lawmakers out of office who have remained silent while Trump has run rampant over the values of this country.
