Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) isn’t too popular among people with brains these days especially after the comments he made on Tuesday saying that “there’s not much that (the federal government) can do” when it comes to school shootings. Although McConnell comes from a state that has some of the poorest counties in the country, he has managed to remain in his seat since 1985, which is way too long for the turtle.
However, on Saturday, some people from his home state decided to show just how they feel about him…and it wasn’t a fond encounter. McConnell had just eaten at a popular Louisville, KY, bar and grill “The Bristol” when a group of protesters followed him out of the restaurant yelling:
‘Vote you out! Vote you out! Vote you out! Vote you out!…’
One Facebook user posted this video:
This also comes on the heels of a huge ICE protest that occurred on Saturday in Louisville, KY. Nearly 1,000 protesters gathered downtown to protest the cruel and inhumane policies of the Trump administration around separating families at the border. According to WLKY News:
‘Police chief Steve Conrad said he had information that protesters and counterprotesters would be armed, and several on both sides were. However, safety measures to keep the protesters separate worked, with the protest ending peacefully.’
Senator McConnell is up for reelection in 2020. Kentucky Sports Radio host Matt Jones has said that if McConnell does indeed run again, he will enter the race and challenge him as a Democrat.
