In case anyone was beginning to believe that the protests against Trump in England during his visit with Prime Minister Teresa May was some kind of anomaly, one of Scotland’s biggest newspapers just topped them with their scathing criticism of Trump.

In a publication named The Scotsman, the writer of an op-ed did not hold back while reminding people exactly who the president of the United States really is ahead of his visit to Scotland.

‘Donald Trump, due to arrive in the UK later today, is a racist, a serial liar, and either a sex abuser or someone who falsely brags about being one in the apparent belief that this will impress other men in a metaphorical “locker room”.’

The writer then broke down each of those charges against Trump, echoing what so many journalists have pointed out throughout Trump’s time in the White House, despite the fact that the president continues to call that “fake news.”

‘To take each of these charges in turn, when black American football players protested against police shootings of innocent people of colour by refusing to stand for the national anthem, Trump said the players “maybe … shouldn’t be in the country”.

‘And when white supremacists, neo-Nazis and armed militia groups demonstrated in Charlottesville, Virginia, over plans to remove a statue of a Confederate general – and a counter-protester was killed and others injured as a car was driven deliberately into them – Mr Trump claimed there were “very fine people” on both sides.’

The newspaper also reminded their countrymen exactly how Trump rose to political prominence by appeasing racists opposed to the United States’ first black president.

‘Trump persistently pushed the lie that Barack Obama, the first African American president, was not born in the US.’

The Scotsman writer also pointed out Trump’s pointed criticism and racist rants against Muslims, African countries, Mexicans (whom he said were “rapists” and “criminals”), and his attacks against an “Indiana-born judge” who oversaw the lawsuit into Trump University by saying he would be unable to do his job fairly because of his Latino heritage.

The journalist also referred to Trump’s endless and unprecedented daily lies, estimated to be at least 6.5 times per day by The Washington Post, and quoted Trump’s own former secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, on that subject.

‘If our leaders seek to conceal the truth, or we as people become accepting of alternative realities that are no longer grounded in facts, then we as American citizens are on a pathway to relinquishing our freedom.’

The writer concluded by referencing Trump’s own “locker room talk,” which is how he dismissed his comments bragging about grabbing women “by the p*ssy,” and which his own wife defended as just “boy talk.”

To the people of England, Scotland, the entire EU, and all other countries shaking their head in disappointment over the racist, misogynist, lying president of the United States, we’re sorry. We don’t like him, either.
