What a deep well of shady deals surround the Donald Trump campaign. The underhanded lines cross back and forth among the people he employed, until it becomes difficult to figure out who just might be guilty. Fortunately, Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his team are extremely good at it.

One of Trump’s top donors turned to his former personal attorney, Michael Cohen. He offered the attorney $10 million, according to The Wall Street Journal. All Cohen had to do was to make sure that POTUS greased a government loan.

The finders fee would buy the donor a loan for a nuclear power plant.

Apparently, Franklin Haney did not believe that his $1 million donation to the new president’s inauguration fund would buy him enough funding for the Bellefonte Nuclear Power Plant in Alabama.

Trump’s inauguration cost tens of millions more than President Barack Obama’s inauguration. That was odd, because POTUS could only draw second-rate entertainment and put on a much-reduced event. Not only that, Trump was free to keep the left-over money.

The donor decided to turn to Cohen in April 2018 to serve as his lobbyist. The president’s former attorney also managed to scoop up a monthly retainer plus the $10 million “success fee.”

Haney wanted to approach the Department of Energy (DOE) to obtain a $5 billion loan. That would provide partial funding of the entire project.

Haney’s attorney, Larry Blust relayed:

‘A contract with Michael Cohen or his affiliate for lobbying services related to the Bellefonte project.’

The donor had already hired Cohen to serve as a consultant while he went to Qatari officials for funding. At that time Haney was trying to get the little, wealthy country to invest in a nuclear-power deal.

The man in the Oval Office and Cohen have broken off their relationship, which may be unfortunate for the president. His ex-attorney has been caught in the special counsel, Robert Mueller’s investigation into the Russian attack on the U.S. presidential election and any Trump campaign conspiracy.

Mueller has been investigating Cohen for campaign finance law violation and bank fraud.
